Home Kong Kitchen is 3!!!

Home Kong Kitchen is 3 YEARS OLD!!! Our initiative started as a response to news reports in 2020 that food waste charities were struggling to feed the homeless during the 3rd Wave of the pandemic. So we began to bake our own and donate it to shelters in weekly food drives. As more and more bighearted Homekongers joined us, we were able to bake, collect and deliver breakfasts, tasty treats, dry and tinned foods, utensils, clothing, amenity kits, medical supplies and just about anything else useful we could get our hands on to support our homeless, migrant, elderly and refugee friends at Hong Kong charities ImpactHK, Bethune House, Refugee Union, Amigos HK & the Mission for Migrant Workers throughout 3 years of tough pandemic restrictions. The pandemic may be receding into memory but food insecurity and homelessness continue to be a huge issue. And so we continue!

As well as our regular collections and deliveries we also organise special events to celebrate Chinese festivals and other public holidays with festive treats! Our next event will be over the 2023 Mid Autumn Festival when we will be collaborating with Sweet Fashion House to do something very special for our homeless friends! I can’t wait to share our exciting plans in the coming month and let you know how you can support!

Whether you’re part of our family of amazing regular volunteers or contributed a single loaf, thank you for supporting Home Kong Kitchen and reaffirming Charity Begins at Home Kong! 🫶 Here are a few of our favourite memories of the past THREE YEARS!!!
