The Bethune House Migrant Women’s Refuge in Jordan is one of our favorite deliveries of the week thanks to the warmth of the welcome we receive and appreciation of our baking! But this inspiring refuge and the courageous women it supports badly need your help!
The refuge is facing a developing humanitarian crisis of stranded domestic workers who have had their contracts terminated and are in desperate need of food and shelter. In the first 6 weeks of 2021 alone, Bethune House has assisted 250 stranded migrant workers. The refuge remains fully committed to not turning away a single migrant worker in crisis, even in these unprecedented times. However, they are currently in dire need of an additional HKD$25.000 a week to provide hostel rent and food to these stranded women.
